![]() i was hooked on log cabins, timber frames, woodworking, the whole nine.įast forward to March of this year. Long story short i found this forum and corrected quite a few of my errors with cs milling but with how slow of a process it was amongst other things, i began to loss interest in it, but the love of wood still burned bright. took me almost 15 mins to get through the first cut, but when that first slab finally did come loose and i saw the beautiful wood of a fresh cut oak, the enchanting purple and stark white wood. Next i went right to the crotch of the tree cut an 8' section, set up my rails and started cutting.with a full chisel chain, no aux oiler, no wedges, on my knees in the dirt, soaking up the wonderful exhaust and dust from the saw. the wife was ecstatic about my new hobby aka money sink aka grounds for divorce. Next i preceded to put it all together, get my stihl saw out and drop a half dead oak right into my front yard. From there bought the biggest bar and chain i could find, a 34" bar and full skip chain. ![]() I ordered an chinese ebay knock off ACSM and bought my father-in- laws old husky 575xp that had not been off the shelf in 10 years. Looking back, i see this as the beginning of my fall from sanity. The google searches started, i learned about band mills(not even in the realm of possibility for me at that time) and the good ole alaskan chainsaw mill. So that started my journey into the abyss. My entrepreneurial spirit was immediately ignited, How hard could it be to produce slabs like that and better my family's standing in life!!. My first adventure into milling came in 2017 when i saw a seller on the facebook marketplace selling live edge slabs for $200 to $300. ![]() I'm new here and after having lerked for for quite a while, i finally joined up! ![]()
